Casablanca Airport Guide

Whether you are planning a brief connection, an overnight stay, or you simply want to know what awaits you when you touch down in Morocco, the Travel Code Casablanca Airport Guide has you covered. In the sections below you will find up-to-date details on services, facilities, nearby airport hotels, safety, Wi-Fi, lounges and more, all carefully compiled from public sources, airline partners and traveler feedback.

CMN Airport Overview

What to Expect

Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (IATA: CMN) operates two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 has recently been refurbished, yet many travelers still describe CMN as crowded, confusing and—at peak hours—noisy. Signage can be sparse, queues at immigration and security are long, and power outlets are mostly round-pin European style. On the bright side, most airport personnel switch smoothly between Arabic, French and English.

Free Wi-Fi is provided, but may slow during heavy traffic. Dining and retail options number over a dozen, though almost all close around 22:00 and prices are notably higher than downtown Casablanca. Travelers looking for extra comfort can buy access to one of several pay-per-use lounges that include showers.

Sleeping in Casablanca Airport

Overnighting in Terminal 2 is generally tolerated and considered safe; security teams routinely patrol and have been cooperative toward quiet sleepers. Popular spots include the first-floor check-in hall and the armrest-free benches near Gate C-16. Noise-cancelling headphones and an extra layer for chilly air-conditioning are recommended. For travelers who prefer a guaranteed bed, the air-side transit hotel in T2 and several shuttle-served hotels nearby are solid alternatives. Details are listed in the Airport Hotels section.

Good to Know

  • Designated smoking rooms remain open, and smoke occasionally drifts into adjacent areas.
  • Royal Air Maroc provides complimentary hotel vouchers for passengers on through-tickets facing layovers longer than 24 hours—inquire at the Transit & Accommodation desk on arrival.

A handful of European-pin sockets are scattered through seating areas. Bring an adapter plus a fully charged power bank just in case.

Showers

Shower facilities are available inside the Le Zenith Lounge and Pearl Lounges; otherwise the transit hotel is your only option.

Wi-Fi / Internet

Free unlimited Wi-Fi is offered airport-wide. Expect slower speeds during busy periods.

Security & Safety Tips

  • Position yourself near CCTV cameras or visible security posts.
  • Avoid isolated corners; stay in well-lit areas populated by other travelers.
  • Keep valuables out of sight. Light sleepers should lock bags to fixed objects or use cable locks.
  • If you ever feel unsafe, relocate to an open café or a staffed information desk and remain alert until gates open.
