“The music plays all night, so pack earplugs if you plan to sleep.” – CalJR (traveler review)
RSW Airport Overview
What to Expect
Southwest Florida International Airport (IATA: RSW) features a modern, mid-sized terminal with three concourses (B, C, D). A wide range of eateries and retail stores populate both landside and airside areas, though almost all shut down overnight. Complimentary Wi-Fi keeps you connected, and charging outlets are plentiful. At present, no independent pay-per-use lounges operate here.
Sleeping in the Airport
After TSA checkpoints close, passengers are limited to landside areas until security re-opens each morning. Airport staff are generally tolerant of overnight guests and have even been known to suggest quieter corners. Seating is scarce and often armed, so a light travel mat or sleeping bag will improve comfort if you plan to stretch out on the floor. The public-address system plays music and announcements through the night; noise-canceling headphones or earplugs are highly recommended. For uninterrupted rest, consider one of the nearby hotels with courtesy shuttles (details below).
Read real-time traveler feedback and reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, or our own comment section for the latest sleep tips.
Airport Hours
The terminal operates 24 hours a day. TSA, airline check-in, and baggage drop times vary according to individual flight schedules. Landside passengers cannot access secured (airside) concourses until checkpoints open each morning.
Rest & Relaxation Zones
RSW does not maintain designated quiet or sleep zones. If you find information to the contrary, please let Travel Code know so we can update fellow travelers.
Cots
The airport does not supply cots during irregular operations or cancellations.
Airport Hotels
If sleeping in the terminal sounds less than dreamy, several hotels sit within a 5-minute shuttle ride. All listed properties offer complimentary airport transfers; verify current schedules directly with the hotel.

Concession hours vary by location; none remain open 24/7 inside the terminal. A 7-Eleven and Wendy’s in the external Airport Service Plaza (accessible via Terminal Access Road) serve hot meals and snacks around the clock.
Luggage Storage & Lockers
No public lockers or left-luggage services are available at RSW.
Mobile Charging
Power outlets (many hidden beneath seats) and branded charging posts are dispersed throughout all concourses.
Showers
Shower facilities are not offered to the public.
Wi-Fi / Internet
Free Wi-Fi is supplied airport-wide. Select the “RSWiFly” network and follow the on-screen prompt.
Security & Safety Tips
- Locate Security. Identify the airport police post or ask an officer where cameras cover public spaces.
- Stay Visible. Solo travelers should rest near other passengers or close to staffed areas.
- Guard Valuables. Keep electronics out of sight. If you sleep deeply, attach luggage to yourself or an immovable object.
- Trust Instincts. If unease sets in, find a brighter spot, sip coffee, and doze on your flight instead.
